PRIVATE COACHING
Private coaching allows actors to work one-on-one with Danny to prepare auditions, strengthen performances, and deepen their craft.
Each session is tailored to the actor’s specific material, goals, and level of experience.
Sessions focus on practical scene work, script analysis, and character thinking so actors can approach material with clarity and confidence.
When actors focus on the character’s thinking, performances begin to organize themselves naturally.
Instead of trying to manufacture emotion or performance choices, the work focuses on understanding what the character is thinking and experiencing in the moment.
The work is grounded in the principles of The Resonant Actor approach, which you can explore in more detail on the Approach page.
Areas We Work On
Private coaching can support actors in several areas:
Audition Preparation
Break down audition material using script analysis, character perspective, and inner monologue so the performance feels grounded and specific.
Self Tape Coaching
Prepare and rehearse self-tapes with a focus on truthful thinking, listening, and subtle on-camera performance.
Scene Work
Work through scenes step by step, exploring the character’s thinking, emotional shifts, and moment to moment behavior.
Script Analysis
Learn how to analyze a scene so the character’s circumstances, objectives, and relationships are clear.
Character Perspective
Explore the character’s beliefs, fears, and motivations so the scene becomes personal and meaningful.
Inner Monologue
Develop the character’s stream of thought so the actor remains alive and responsive between lines.
The Moment Before
Identify the thought and emotional state the character carries into the scene.
Listening and Reaction
Practice listening in character so the other actor’s words genuinely affect thoughts and behavior.
Acting the Song
Actors working on musical theatre material explore how songs function as the character’s inner monologue and apply the same tools used in scene work to make the song truthful and dramatically grounded.
Who Coaching Is For
Private coaching is helpful for actors who want to:
• prepare an important audition
• strengthen self tape performances
• develop stronger on camera acting
• improve scene work and character development
• receive individualized feedback and guidance
• deepen their understanding of acting craft
Actors at all experience levels are welcome.
Common Coaching Situations
Actors often book private coaching when they need focused support on a specific project or audition.
Common situations include:
• preparing an audition that is coming up quickly
• working through a difficult scene or monologue
• preparing a self-tape before recording
• developing a deeper understanding of a character
• transitioning from theater acting to on-camera work
• strengthening emotional truth and listening in scenes
Because each session is tailored to the actor’s goals, coaching can adapt to both short-term preparation and long-term craft development.
What To Expect
Coaching sessions are focused, practical, and collaborative. A typical session may include script analysis, exploration of the character’s thinking and inner monologue, rehearsal of the material, and adjustments based on what emerges in the scene.
Actors work through material step by step, exploring the character’s thinking, inner monologue, and emotional life. The goal is not to manufacture a performance but to help the actor experience the scene truthfully from the inside.
By the end of a session, actors typically leave with:
• a clearer understanding of the character
• stronger connection to the scene
• more natural line delivery
• greater confidence in their choices
